Oxygen Enrichment
The main objective of SRU is install oxygen enrichment unit in SuperClaus and EuroClaus unit to increase sulphur product capacity in SuperClaus ® and EuroClaus ® process with minimum investment and operational cost, maximum operation flexibility and reliability İn Izmit, Izmir and Kirikkale Refineries.
Capacity Increase
The main objective of SRU is to have minimum 99.5% sulphur recovery efficiency in acid gas feed that should be recovered as sulphur product in EuroClaus ® process with minimum investment and operational cost, maximum operation flexibility and reliability İn Izmit, Izmir and Kirikkale Refineries.
Current trend in the characteristics of crude oil supply, petroleum product demand, and tightening environmental regulations require continuous change in the worldwide refining industry. These modifications developments have led to reconfiguring refinery processes with greater use of hydroprocessing to upgrade crude oil into light transportation fuels and to improve fuel quality. More hydrotreating and increased processing severity is required for removing sulfur and nitrogen compounds from fuels to meet future environmental regulations. The resulting increase in production of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and ammonia (NH3) has placed new demands on the processing capability of refinery sulfur recovery units (SRU’s).
Oxygen enrichment process takes place at this stage. This process provides increasing Claus plant capacity and productivity without changing the pressure drop and more effective ammonia destruction with minimum investment and operational cost at maximum operation flexibility and reliability.
Murat Kolbaşı joined TÜPRAŞ refineries for the past 9 years. I am working as senior process engineer in Head Office related with managing energy efficient project in energy and oil industrial discipline related steam and electric generator unit, nad process management in SRU, Kerosene & LPG MEROX. Currently at TUPRAS, my role covers SRU, LPG Kerosene Merox Unit, benchmarking the unit operations, catalyst and additive selections, equipment design, leading revamp projects and investments, test runs, S/U and S/Ds are all within her scope of work. Murat Kolbaşı had petrochemical and polymer industry experience before TÜPRAŞ for 5 years.
