The repair of cracking at the vessel to skirt connection in coker vessels presents significant challenges when executed using conventional technologies. This presentation will discuss a large project where innovative technologies were employed to increase the safety, quality, and productivity of the repair.
Technical cooperation between the vendor and owner allowed for the development of a repair plan that permitted the execution of repairs on eight vessels in parallel with most of the repair window performed during operation of the units. This novel approach minimized the impact on overall production that would normally be experienced with this type of repair.
