Many refiners are installing coker unheading valves for the first time, actuated with hydraulic systems. In many cases, the project team may have little experience with these systems. Meanwhile, across the refinery, the FCC Unit has been happily chugging along with multiple generations of hydraulic and electrohydraulic slide valve actuator systems for the past 60 years. However, the two worlds never seem to talk (except perhaps at RefComm). This presentation discusses the differences and similarities between the FCCU and Coker applications.
