Catalyst losses from the FCC unit are important to refiners because of their impact on optimizing unit operation, environmental compliance, catalyst cost and erosion of equipment. In this workshop, we’ll troubleshoot common problems/concerns including changes in operating conditions, mechanical problems, refractory failure, and poor catalyst retention properties.
We’ll identify problems by discussing normal operations, catalyst physical properties, indicators of cyclone performance problems and attrition in the regenerator and reactor.
Additionally, we’ll address preventive measures, for example ensuring proper operation of the cyclones, including inspection for holes, refractory loss or coke build-up prior to start up.
