Sulfur recovery unit (SRU) reaction furnace refractory linings have evolved over the past 15 years. As reaction furnaces have increased in operating temperature and vessel size, refractory lining selection has changed to maintain high lining reliability. We will discuss these lining changes and the implications for further improvements in the future.
