Richard Tan - Baker Hughes, a GE Company
Due to increasing global demand on diesel, Resid Hydroprocessing is becoming common among new refineries, or refinery upgrades. Considering the “slurry” nature of hydrocarbon liquid in Resid Hydroprocessing, demand is high on control valve engineering.
As an integral part of instrumentation, successful operation of control valves is critical to ensure proper and continuous operation of the plant. Several technologies are compared and required control valve attributes for severe services in Resid Hydroprocessing are discussed.
Richard Tan is the Application Engineering Director of Industry for BHGE’s Turbomachinery & Process Solution division. Richard has been working in control valves for 15 years across various industry segments. He enjoys building furniture and home improvement.
