Moving the FCC out of Its Comfort Zone

Presented By

Ziad Jawad - Technip Stone and Webster Process Technology

Conference:

Since its beginning over seventy years ago, the FCC unit traditionally processed VGO feed with the main objective of producing gasoline. More recently, global economic trends have led to the development of FCC technology to allow the processing of much lighter feeds as well as heavy resids with a primary focus on producing distillate, propylene, or both, rather than traditional gasoline production. This presentation discusses these developments being employed in grassroots FCC units today and shows how such technology can be applied to revamp mature FCC units to improve profitability by moving away from traditional operating objectives.
