Use of metal plug valves in severe service applications has been common and widespread in the coker market for almost 100 years. Ever-Increasing automation of these systems over the last thirty years has created reliability issues in the operation of these valves. This concern has brought about the development of new, more reliable technology. Our presentation will detail this history, problems, development, and resolution to these concerns.
Dr. Ihlow is Managing Director and Owner of MIAM. Prior to that, he was the Vice President of PHÖNIX Armaturen-Werke Bregel GmbH, in Volkmarsen, Germany. He has earned a doctorate in “Absorption in liquid sprayed fluidized beds” and graduated magna cum laude.
