L&T Heavy Engineering’s position as a world leader in coke drums encompasses capabilities ranging from the manufacturing of coke drums at a shop or at the site to various types of revamps of coke drums onsite. L&T has supplied substantial numbers of coke-drums all over the world and has experience with all major process licensors. “Modification, Revamp & Upgrade (MRU),” a dedicated Business Unit within L&T Heavy Engineering, provides specialized and high-end services for planning and execution of critical revamps, repairs and turnarounds to customers worldwide in several industries, including refineries, petrochemical, fertilizer and power plants. MRU derives strength from years of L&T’s expertise in manufacturing and welding of critical metallurgy as well as its global reach and has a dedicated emergency shut-down team, all of whom are deputed to site world-over promptly.
Under MRU, we have executed several in-situ bulge overlay & crack repairs of coke drums in-house, developing sophisticated automated welding machines with high productivity. As a one-stop solution for coke drums, MRU services other important modifications at a site, including the introduction of for center-feed nozzle with precision heat treatment and dimension control, delta-valve and vapor line revamp and capability of dry slot cutting on Coke Drum skirts in running the plant.
Mr. Nilesh Shah has been with Larsen & Toubro, Heavy Engineering for the last 21 years. He currently heads the execution of Modification, Revamp & Upgrade (MRU) and Site Support Cell projects globally. He has executed more than 50 turnaround projects successfully in the last four years with the highest standard of safety implemented onsite.
He has versatile experience in various industries like Chemical, Precision Manufacturing, Electronics, Automobile Ancillary Manufacturing and Heavy Engineering / Fabrication. Mr. Shah also has expertise in Maintenance, Plant Engineering, Projects, Technology Development, Equipment Manufacturing, Machine Shop, Purchase, and Sub-contracting functions. He is proficient in major and critical turnaround projects for Refinery, Petrochemical & Fertilizer plants.
