Coking SME and owner of Coking.com Evan Hyde shares the full recording of his recent webinar.
In the delayed coking process, it is customary to recapture and recycle the water used for quenching or cooling the coke drum and cutting the coke from the drum. This practice ensures efficient water utilization and minimizes wastage. While a few exceptional cases exist where a once-through water system is employed, they are extremely rare in the industry. When water is lost during quenching, it is replenished from external sources outside the battery limits (OSBL), such as fire water or stripped sour water (SSW).
Given the perpetual recycling of water, it becomes imperative to monitor and control its quality closely. The webinar will provide an in-depth exploration of the typical properties of this recycled water and how they can be effectively managed in commercial delayed coking units worldwide.
Water quality management in the delayed coking process involves a comprehensive understanding of the various parameters and potential contaminants. Parameters such as pH, conductivity, total dissolved solids (TDS), suspended solids, and organic compounds need to be carefully monitored to ensure that the water meets the required specifications.
Controlling water quality involves implementing robust treatment processes and technologies that effectively remove impurities and maintain optimal water characteristics. Settling systems, filtration systems, and other treatment methodologies play vital roles in achieving the desired water quality standards. The webinar will delve into these treatment options, discussing their efficiencies, limitations, and best practices for implementation.
After watching this webinar, you will gain valuable insights into the management of water quality in the delayed coking process. The information shared will encompass real-world experiences from commercial units across the globe, offering practical solutions and highlighting industry best practices. With a comprehensive understanding of water quality management, attendees will be equipped to optimize their operations, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and enhance the overall efficiency and reliability of their delayed coking units.

Great presentation, many times coke cutting isolations valve passing observed. Is it due to erosion/corrosion?
