Miray Genç - TUPRAS
It is a challange for each refinery to keep up with the limits in emissions as the regulations are getting tighter every day. As feeds get heavier, it is inevitable to end up with higher SOx and NOx emissions. Therefore, it is really important to find the right additive or new flue gas treatment process for your FCC. Decreasing the emissions with new investments is highly costly.Additives can decrease SOx emissions up to 90% in full burn and 60 % in partial burn units. They can also help in reducing the operating costs of the existing scrubbers. The important point is to get the highest pick up factor (PUF) without getting a dilution in the catalyst inventory. It is also possible to use small amounts of different additives in the inventory that do not interact with each other and the catalyst today as well as decreasing the emissions at the same time.
Miray Genç joined TÜPRAŞ in March 2007 and has worked in TUPRAS refineries for the past 11 years. She is working as FCC process superintendent. Before that, she worked for Turkish Council of R&D as a Process Engineer on nanocomposite materials. She has been responsible for FCC, Coker, Hydroprocessing, SMR, SRU, DEA, Merox, Prime G and SHU Units as process superintendent for the past 10 years. Currently at TUPRAS, her role covers only FCC Units. Benchmarking the unit operations, catalyst and additive selections, equipment design, leading revamp projects and investments, test runs, S/U and S/Ds are all within her scope of work.
