courtesy of Sulzer Chemtech Italia srlThe Main Fractionator is one of the key towers in the FCCU unit and its reliable operation ensures the profitability of the refinery. This column can become the source of a major bottleneck in the FCCU unit directly affecting the profitability of a refinery. This paper will discuss in detail the debottlenecking of a FCCU main column at an Indian refinery that was initially commissioned in 1984 and has been revamped three times since then. Plant feedback data will also be discussed in detail.
