courtesy of Prep ConsultingEvery refiner in the world uses a plant-wide Linear Program model to optimize monthly operation. An accurate LP is worth 50 cents/BBL, or more of margin. However, refiners struggle to keep their LPs accurate in the face of increasingly scarce engineering resources. LPMonitor is a tool to monitor plant operations and improves LP accuracy for all key processes- for example, Catalytic Cracker, Delayed Coker, and Crude Unit. In this talk, we will introduce LPMonitor and show you our step-by-step best practices for improving LP accuracy. LPMonitor is an easy-to-use system that performs the following functions; first comparing the LP plant model predictions to actual plant measurements, second quantifying predictions errors, and finally when significant errors are found, by tuning the LP plant model.
