Just a few minutes past the World Trade Center is Den Haag Central Station. In your free time during RefComm Rotterdam, this is a convenient way to get around the city.

Our first destination, an easy 1.3 mile walk, is the Mauritshuis, an architecturally beautiful museum.

The Mauritshuis houses 841 objects of art, including Dutch Golden Age Paintings. The collection contains works from Dutch and Flemish artists such as Johannes Vermeer (Girl with a Pearl Earring), Paulus Potter (The Young Bull), Pieter Brueghel, Sir Peter Paul Rubens, and Rembrandt van Rijn.

We will have a guided tour in English, which will take about 1 ½ hours.

After our guided tour of Mauritshuis, we will continue to explore the historical Den Haag by walking 2 minutes to Binnenhof, the center of Dutch politics.

Binnenhof, Den Haag, Netherlands

Binnenhof houses the buildings of the Senate and House of Representatives, and Ridderzal (House of Knights). During our visit there, we will watch a movie about Dutch politics and visit Ridderzal. This will take approximately 45 minutes.

We will have a lunch break at 1:30 pm at Wills Pancakehouse, a 6-minute walk from Binnenhof.

Grote of Sint-Jacobskerk, Den Haag, Netherlands

After our lovely lunch, we will be visiting the oldest church in Den Haag and we’ll find out why they call this the big church. From Wills Pancakehouse, it’s a short 10-minute walk to Grote of Sint-Jacobskerk.

After visiting Grote of Sint-Jacobskerk, we will be walking back to our hotel, NH Den Haag. We hope to arrive back between 3:30 and 4:00 pm.
