Valero Says Cat Cracker Unit Starting at Three Rivers Refinery
    2008-05-27 10:50 (New York)
    By Robert Tuttle
May 27 (Bloomberg) — Valero Energy Corp., the largest U.S.
refiner, said it is starting a 23,000 barrel-a-day fluid
catalytic cracker at its Three Rivers,
    Texas, refinery after
    maintenance.
“We began the restart process this morning,” Bill Day, a
company spokesman, said in a telephone interview.
The unit, which produces gasoline and is the only fluid
catalytic cracker at the refinery, was shut May 16
    .
The refinery is located about 70 miles (113 kilometers)
south of San Antonio and linked to Valero’s refining complex in
Corpus Christi by a 70-mile pipeline. Three Rivers can process
100,000 barrels of crude oil a day, according to Valero.
