May 27 (Bloomberg) — Valero Energy Corp., the largest U.S.
refiner, said it is starting a 23,000 barrel-a-day fluid
catalytic cracker at its Three Rivers, Texas, refinery after
maintenance.
“We began the restart process this morning,” Bill Day, a
company spokesman, said in a telephone interview.
The unit, which produces gasoline and is the only fluid
catalytic cracker at the refinery, was shut May 16.
The refinery is located about 70 miles (113 kilometers)
south of San Antonio and linked to Valero’s refining complex in
Corpus Christi by a 70-mile pipeline. Three Rivers can process
100,000 barrels of crude oil a day, according to Valero.
