Valero Refinery worker dead after Sunday incident
WWLTV Straff Reporters 3/07/11 NORCO, La. A contract worker at the Valeros St. Charles Refinery died while one of the plants areas was shut down.
Two contract workers from Koch Specialty Plant Services were taken to the hospital after an incident that exposed them to chemicals at the refinerys millisecond catalytic cracking unit, said Bill Day, executive director of media relations with Valero.
One of the workers died there. The other is expected to be released from the hospital today, Day said.
Officials said the incident doesnt pose any threat or danger to those living and working in the area and the refinery remains in operation.
The safety of our employees, our contractors and the communities where we do business is our top priority, Day said in a news release. We continue to work toward our goal of preventing all such accidents.
