May 27 (Bloomberg) — Valero Energy Corp., the largest U.S.
refiner, restarted the coker unit at its refinery in Delaware
City, Delaware, which led to some flaring today, the company said
in a filing with state regulators.
The flaring at about 10:34 a.m. local time resulted in the
release of sulfur dioxide, the filing showed.
The refinery shut a coker unit for maintenance at the end of
March and the shutdown was planned, Bill Day, a Valero spokesman,
said at the time. Day didn’t immediately return a message seeking
comment today.
The Delaware City refinery can process 190,200 barrels of
oil a day, according to government and company data.
