Valero Port Arthur FCC malfunctions -filing
HOUSTON, June 12, 2011(Reuters) A gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracking unit malfunctioned on Saturday night at Valero Energy Corps 287,000 barrel per day (bpd) Port Arthur, Texas refinery, according to a notice filed with Texas pollution regulators. The FCC lost both blowers to the unit which caused the pressure in the debutanizer tower to build, according to the notice filed with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The malfunction triggered flaring at the refinery, which was also hit by a power outage on June 6 that has left a coking unit and a crude unit shut at the refinery
