    Valero Shuts Cat Cracker at New Jersey Refinery to Repair Leak

         May 27 (Bloomberg) — Valero Energy Corp., the largest U.S.
    refiner, shut a fluid catalytic cracker at its Paulsboro,
    New
    Jersey, refinery for unplanned repairs, according to a spokesman.
         The shutdown of the 55,000-barrel-a-day cracker began last
    night when a leak was discovered in an expansion joint
    , Bill Day,
    a spokesman for Valero said in an interview. “We don’t expect it
    to be a lengthy repair,
    ” said Day, who declined to be more
    specific.
         The Paulsboro refinery has a maximum operating capacity of
    166,000 barrels a day, according to U.S. Energy Department and
    company data.
         Valero is based in San Antonio.

    Valero Says Cracker Returns to Service at New Jersey Refinery

         June 2 (Bloomberg) — Valero Energy Corp., the largest U.S.
    refiner, said a gasoline-producing unit returned to operation at
    its refinery in Paulsboro, New Jersey.
         The 55,000 barrel-a-day fluid catalytic cracker was
    “restarted yesterday and is moving toward full rates
    ,” Bill
    Day, a company spokesman, said in an e-mail.
         The unit was shut May 26 for unplanned repairs because of a
    leak in an expansion joint. The plant has a maximum operating
    capacity of 166,000 barrels a day, according to U.S. Energy
    Department data.
       Valero is based in San Antonio.
