Valero shuts Memphis distillate hydrotreater
Memphis Business Journal – July 24, 2006
Valero Energy Corp. has shut the distillate hydrotreater at its Memphis refinery, according to media reports.
The Memphis refinery at 543 Mallory produces gasoline, diesel fuel and the majority of jet fuel consumed at Memphis International Airport. It became part of Valero (NYSE: VLO) when it merged with Premcor Inc.
Reuters reports Monday that the distillate hydrotreater in the 195,000-barrel-per-day refinery will be down for nine days to perform repairs.
“The total outage is expected to be nine days, during which time gasoline production is reduced by 10,000 bpd and distillate production by 15,000 bpd,” Mary Rose Brown, a spokeswoman for the company, told Reuters.
