Exxon Mobil Torrance Refinery Beginning Maintenance
The following table lists planned and unplanned production outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining sources and does not purport to be a comprehensive list.
Exxon Mobil Corp. said Thursday that several process units at its refinery in Torrance, Calif., are slated to be shut down starting Friday for planned maintenance lasting several weeks.
Valero Energy Corp. on Wednesday said its Meraux, La., refinery is expected to resume normal operating rates in about a week following planned maintenance at unspecified units that began sometime in April. The work included catalyst changeouts, the company said.
Valero on Tuesday said it would spend about $500 million for new equipment at its refineries in Houston and Corpus Christi, Texas, to increase their light, sweet-crude refining capacity by a combined 160,000 barrels a day. The start and completion dates for the projects were not provided.
Phillips 66 said Monday that an unspecified “process upset” at its 146,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Borger, Texas, resulted in sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide being emitted. The company declined to say whether operations were effected.
Chalmette Refining LLC said Monday that planned maintenance at its oil refinery in Chalmette, La., had been concluded over the weekend. Traders in the region said the plant’s key gasoline-producing fluid catalytic cracking unit and an associated alkylation unit were the focus of the work, but a company spokesman was unable to confirm.
HollyFrontier said in an Monday filing that a unit at its refinery in El Dorado, Kan., had a power outage the previous day.
Marathon Petroleum Corp. said Sunday its refinery in Detroit, Mich., was operating normally after a fire in a sour water tank the previous night.
