Update – Valero St Charles Refinery & Coker Expansion
    By ADVOCATE BUSINESS STAFF

    Published: Nov 7, 2007
Valero energy will expand its St. Charles refinery in one of the largest growth projects in the company’s history, the company said in its latest earnings report.
The expansion — which did not include a price tag, but was pegged at $1.4 billion by the Toronto Star newspaper — will include a 50,000 barrel-per-day hydrocracker and a 45,000 barrel-per-day expansion to its crude units and 10,000 barrel-per-day expansion to its coker units.
The expansion’s aim is to produce more ultra-low-sulfur distillates. The San-Antonio-based company said the project should be completed in 2010.
