UPDATE 1-Suncor oil sands upgrader work slated for May
* Six-week turnaround due to start in May * Production from plant to average 215,000 bpd (Adds company comment)
CALGARY, March 17, 2011 (Reuters) – Suncor Energy Inc. is slated to start a six-week turnaround at one of its oil sands upgraders in northern Alberta in May, a company spokesman said on Thursday. Work on Upgrader 2 is expected to cut output by about 215,000 barrels a day over the duration of the work, the company has said.
Spokesman Dany Laferriere said there has been no change to the schedule since the company’s last quarterly conference call on Feb. 2.
Suncor’s oil sands mining and synthetic crude processing operation has a capacity of about 350,000 barrels a day. Earlier, IIR Energy reported the turnaround was expected to start in April. (Reporting by Jeffrey Jones and Matthew Robinson)
