US Refinery Status: Exxon Reports Flaring At California RefineryDOW JONES NEWSWIRES Jan 10, 2012
The following table lists unplanned and planned production outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining sources and doesn’t purport to be a comprehensive list.
Exxon Mobil Corp. on Jan. 10 said unplanned flaring at its oil refinery in Torrance, Calif., was caused by two temporary external power interruptions the day before. The impact of the outages is being assessed.
ConocoPhillips on Jan. 10 said planned maintenance is under way at its Lake Charles refinery in Westlake, La., but didn’t disclose the specific units involved or the duration of the work.
Valero Energy Corp. on Jan. 9 said crude oil throughput rates at its oil refinery on the island country of Aruba have been reduced by an unspecified amount for the past several weeks due to economics. The company is evaluating its options for the refinery on an ongoing basis.
Valero Energy Corp. on Jan. 9 said the FCCU at its oil refinery in Meraux, La., will be shut while planned turnaround maintenance is performed at the plant’s alkylation unit. The alkylation unit turnaround started last week.
Routine maintenance at an alkylation unit is on going at BP PLC’s oil refinery in Texas City, Texas, a person familiar with operations at the plant said on Jan. 9. The work got under way earlier this month, according to traders doing business with BP, but it isn’t clear when the unit will be returned to service.
