US Refinery Status: Conoco Reports Excess Opacity At Sweeny
    DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

The following table lists unplanned and planned production outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining sources and doesn’t purport to be a comprehensive list.
ConocoPhillips on Dec. 9 said excess opacity was released at its Sweeny, Texas, refinery; the cause of the event wasn’t specified. Refinery personnel were working to minimize emissions, a filing to Texas state environmental regulators said.

BP PLC on Dec. 8 reported emissions associated with a valve malfunction at its Texas City, Texas refinery. It was not clear in the filing to Texas state regulators whether the event had an impact to production.

Valero Energy on Dec. 8 reported flaring and emissions at its Port Arthur, Texas, refinery due to an issue at a wet gas compressor. The impact of the event to production wasn’t clear.

Chevron Corp. on Dec. 7 said its oil refinery in El Segundo, Calif., had resumed normal operations after a power interruption on Dec. 1 forced the shutdown of several processing units.

Syncrude on Dec. 6 said coker unit 8-1 shut on Nov. 22 for unplanned repairs at its Alberta, Canada oil-sands project was restarted at two-thirds of rated capacity.

Delek USA Holding’s Lion Oil refinery in El Dorado, Arkansas experienced a fire at the platformer unit on Dec. 5, the company said on Dec. 7. The unit wasn’t damaged and will be restarted later on Dec. 7.

Hovensa on Dec. 6 said scheduled fourth-quarter maintenance and upgrade projects have been completed at its oil refinery in St. Croix, part of the U.S. Virgin Islands. No units were shut down completely to conduct the work, the company said in early October, noting that there would be no impact on customers.

Nustar Energy LP’s 13,800-barrel-a-day refinery in San Antonio, Texas, will resume normal operating rates by Dec. 7 following a small, brief fire on Nov. 30, company spokeswoman Mary Rose Brown said on Dec. 6.
Tesoro Corp. on Dec. 5 said its Golden Eagle refinery in Martinez, Calif., was in the process of returning to normal operating rates following the Nov. 28 shutdown of an unspecified distillation unit.
