Tesoro Completes Repairs on Hydrocracker at California Refinery

By Barbara Powell and Aaron Clark
Feb. 25, 2009 (Bloomberg)Tesoro Corp., the largest oil refiner in the U.S. West, said it has completed unplanned repairs on a hydrocracker at its Martinez, California, refinery.
The unit, shut Feb. 23 to fix a leaking valve, will be back to full operation by the end of the week, Lynn Westfall, a company spokesman, said in an e-mail.
Hydrocrackers convert heavy hydrocarbons into lighter fuels such as high-octane gasoline.
The refinery can process 170,000 barrels of crude oil a day, according to the U.S. Energy Department.
