Switch Valve & Isolation Valve Workgroup

TECHNOLOGIES & ADVANCEMENTS:
Actuation for Snyder Switch Valves
Ball Valves enter switch valve market
Lift Plug valves enter market as switch valves
Has not been an issue in the coker.
MOST COMMON PROBLEM; COKING-UP
In ball valve and lift plug valve typically is a purge problem
In Snyder Switch Valve, typically occurs when manually operated and proper procedures are not followed
Needs to be as hot and dry as possible
Should be regulated with a control valve in order to “read the process” in order to feed the proper pressure
May try a dedicated “drop down” from the 600# plant steam system to insure no pressure drops caused by process demand.
OTHER PURGE CONSIDERATIONS:
Could use CGO
Operate valves “slowly” to allow purge to clean out body cavities
Wilson Snyder valves manually operated must use all 8 “Jack Bolts”
