Reported by News 13’s Fallon Smith
Workers were evacuated from a refinery near Rawlins early Sunday morning (June 29th), after it was announced there was an asbestos hazard. Between 1 and 2 AM, sub-contractors at the Sinclair Oil Refinery in Sinclair, say they were told to leave without any explanation by Sinclair Representatives.
Sub-Contractors say they later found out through their parent company that an asbestos outbreak was what prompted the evacuation. When nearly 300 workers showed up for work at 7 AM, they were told they couldn’t come into the plant.
Representatives from the Sinclair Oil Corporation have refused comment.
