Dec. 8, 2008 (Bloomberg) — Reliance Industries Ltd., India’s biggest company by market value, said a fire broke out in the waste storage site of a refinery that’s being built.
“The fire has been extinguished, there has been no loss of life or any casualty,” Paresh Chaudhry, spokesman for Reliance, said by telephone from Mumbai today. “The project construction of Reliance Petroleum Ltd. is on and the operations at the refinery continue.”
The Reliance Petroleum Ltd. refinery, a joint venture between Reliance Industries and Chevron Corp., is planned to have a capacity of 580,000 barrels a day for export.
