    Reliance Boost New Refinery to 720 MBD Capacity

    ABU DHABI, Oct 14, 2009 (Reuters) India’s Reliance Industries is looking to expand the capacity of its new refinery in the western Gujurat state to 720,000 barrels per day (bpd), a company executive told Reuters on Wednesday.
    The new plant is currently operating at 650,000 bpd, about 12 percent over its nameplate 580,000 bpd capacity, said Maurice Bannayan, senior vice president at Reliance Industries.
    “Currently it is running at 650,000 barrels per day, we are planning to do some consolidation that will be up to 700,000 or 720,000 (barrels per day) in six to eight months
    ,” he said on the sidelines of an industry event.
