A cracking unit at Qatar Petroleum’s (QP) 137,000 barrels per day (bpd) refinery was shut following an unplanned outage in October and is expected to be down till end-December, a refinery source said.
The 28,000-bpd gasoline-making residual fluid catalytic cracker (RFCC), which takes straight-run fuel oil as feedstocks, was shut down unexpectedly due to some problems with its generators on Oct 2, the source added.
But QP has managed to continue its gasoline exports via its 12,000-bpd reformer, which can produce 255,000 tonnes of petrol a month if it runs at full capacity, an industry source said.
