Fire crews were called to out tackle a blaze at the Petroplus Coryton refinery in Essex at about 1130 GMT. Fire crews arrived at the scene in Manor Way, Stanford-le-Hope
Essex Fire Service said the fire was on the ground floor of a tower but flames shot 100ft (30.5m) up a column.
Rescue services say the blaze is now out and poses no further danger.
There are no reports of casualties.

I would like you to make sure safety guys take look at my comments on safety – I posted on news items about BP Plans change & restructure.  In particular – I think everyone keeps missing the fact that contractors safety nor deaths/injuries are applied to that refinery safety stats.  If it had only been 1-3 people killed in Tx City blast nothing would have happened and it would not have changed BP’s safety record (ie deaths were not permanent BP employees – were contractors).

Also key was Report by John Gray I mention on Phillips Refinery accident that killed 23 people in 1989. Think Coking.com needs look over the Gray report & comments on integrating contractor safety into total program & key learning’s from it.
