PetroChina’s Fushun refinery adds coking unit
Reuters / BEIJING, July 30, 2010 – PetroChina’s Fushun refinery has added a 2.4 million tonne-per-year (43,000 barrels per day) coking unit to process heavy residue fuels into higher-value fuels, the company’s parent, CNPC, said on Friday.
The Fushun plant, in northeast Jilin province, spent two and half years adding a series of refining facilities that also include a 660,000 tonne-per-year hydroskimmer for gasoline and a 170,000-tpy hydrotreating unit for kerosene.
Together with the main coking unit, they cost just over one billion yuan , CNPC reported in its in-house newspaper China Petroleum Daily.
Fushun operates a total crude processing capacity of 230,000 bpd. A coking unit cracks through a thermal process heavy residues into gasoline, kerosene and liquefied petroleum gas .
