Production from North Dakota’s oil fields is expected to grow even larger in the coming years, said Lynn Helms, director of the state’s department of mineral resources. Daily output from the state’s Bakken Shale formation totaled 640,000 barrels of oil in May, but production is growing by up to 20,000 barrels every month, he said. “And we’ve got 35,000 wells left to drill in this Bakken reserve,” he said.
