PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS — A contract worker was killed in an industrial accident Thursday on the property of an oil refinery
Emery Bowie, 25, of Port Arthur, died while working on the Alligator Bayou Project at a Motiva Enterprises LLC refinery in an accident that involved heavy equipment, said Jeff Gulledge, project manager for Standard Constructors.
Bowie worked Standard Constructors Inc. and was described as an experienced, certified operator of heavy equipment.
Additional details about the accident were not released
The refining death toll this year keeps climbing . This year a majority of the victims are contract workers – seems to be taking a long time for the safety groups to make the connection and take corrective actions to stem this tide. Regards Charlie Randall Independent Carbon & Coke Consultant
