NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- The Motiva Port Arthur, Texas, refinery shut a unit after experiencing a flash fire Sunday, a spokesman said Monday.
“During the evening of Sunday, September 12, a unit was safely shut down at the Motiva Port Arthur Refinery following a flash fire that was contained inside one of the process heaters,” Ted Rolfvondenbaumen, a spokesman for Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA, RDSB, RDSA.LN, RDSB.LN), said in an email.
Shell operates the 275,000-barrel-a-day refinery it jointly owns with a unit of Saudi Aramco. “There were no injuries, nor impact to the surrounding community,” he said.
