Employee At Martinez Shell Refinery Goes Missing (4/30/2009)
Martinez police were investigating the death of a Shell Refinery worker whose body was found late Wednesday night inside a water-holding tank.
Bill Maddock had disappeared sometime during his overnight shift that started Tuesday night and ran through 6 a.m. Wednesday, Shell spokesman Steve Lesher said.
Plant security crews, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s search and rescue team, a helicopter and tracking dogs began searching the 1,000-acre plant property located at 1800 Marina Vista Avenue after Maddock failed to clock out with his electronic badge at the end of his shift.
A little before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday his body was found inside the water holding tank.
Maddock was a logistics department supervisor with more than 20 years experience at the plant.
