Feb. 13, 2009 (Bloomberg) — Kuwait Petroleum Corp., the state-
owned oil and refining company, reported a fire at the Europoort
refinery in Rotterdam.
Parts of the plant were shut because of the fire, the
plants manager said. We are trying to control the situation,
the manager, Ian McConnell, said in a telephone interview. No one
was reported injured or missing, he said.
The refinery has the capacity to process 79,500 barrels of
oil a day.
There was a huge fire and several explosions were
heard at the refinery, according to RTV Rijnmond.
