Tesoro Corp. (TSO) said Feb. 6 it was taking down the fluid-catalytic-cracking unit, or FCCU, at its refinery in Anacortes, Wash., in the first quarter as it expands the refinery’s capacity for Bakken crude oil to 50,000 barrels a day. The work would carry into the second quarter, a company executive said.

Valero Energy on Tuesday took down the gasoline-producing fluid-catalytic-cracking unit and the alkylation unit at its 135,000-barrel-a-day refinery in Wilmington, Calif., for two weeks of work, a company spokesman said. Valero had restarted the units in mid-January after an earlier round of repairs.

PBF Energy Inc. (PBF) said a brief fire last Wednesday night at its Toledo Refinery near Toledo, Ohio, temporarily shut a key gasoline-making fluid-catalytic-cracking unit. Other processing units are currently operating at reduced rates or on standby and it will take several weeks for the plant to return to planned rates, the company said in a news release on Thursday.

Phillips 66 ( PSX ) continues to perform maintenance at its 247,000-barrel-a-day refinery in Sweeny, Texas, a company spokesman said Feb. 4.
