Currently, the blowdown is open and connected to a flare stack. We are in the process of developing a closed blowdown system that will increase the backpressure against the drums. The design is to install an additional Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) in the overhead piping to protect the drum. Have other cokers handled protecting the coke drum when the blowdown is improved in this way?
