My plant is attempting to better control the stresses on the drums during the water quench part of the cycle.  It appears that slower cooling has a positive affect on the stresses.  Does anyone mandate a minimum quench rate to their drums in order to keep the feedline clear?  Is it 50 gpm?  100 gpm?  250 gpm?  Thanks.

we did several tests measuring stresses at the skirt of the drum and from this we did  several quenching curve which was tested in the other units and have been successful  if you could send some email i can send these cooling curve all are automatic (DCS), dont forget no only is the inicial flow also the ramp (how you increase the flow between step)
    Best Regards
