Dear Experts : Latest trend amongst the designs of the derrick structure supporting the coke cutting tool is based on the concept of a common derrick structure for a pair of coke drums, unlike the previous designs where we observe individual derrick structure for the respective drum. Obvious advantage being the economics, is there any reported disadvantage specially during the operation & maintenance? Your suggestions are solicited – Thanks in advance.
I dont know why would someone want individual derrick structure, i guess the common derrick structure is the logical way forward.
For operational ease, I would say that the derricks needs to be connected at several levels to enable maintenance of all the coke cutting equipment in one go..
