We recently finished construction of a 16,000 bpd DCU.  I’m looking for guidance/information on total fire flow requirements (in US GPM) for a DCU of this size (or close to this size).  Any info provided will be much appreciated.

While you are thinking of fire protection, I suggest you look up DuraSystems at this site.  They gave a presentation at the Calgary Coker Conference last week.  They have a fire resistant panel-that meets someone’s (probably the government) requirements for a minimum of 2 hours of protection.  CNRL installed them in their coker stairwell.  We’re probably going to use them at ours.

He also talked about having a safety room at the top of the stairs where you can grab fresh air or get immediate first aid supplies if you have to drag a buddy there and treat him in a protected place before heading down.  Their stuff resists blasts too.  Pretty cool, Dude.  Hope that helps.
