While you are thinking of fire protection, I suggest you look up DuraSystems at this site. They gave a presentation at the Calgary Coker Conference last week. They have a fire resistant panel-that meets someone’s (probably the government) requirements for a minimum of 2 hours of protection. CNRL installed them in their coker stairwell. We’re probably going to use them at ours.
He also talked about having a safety room at the top of the stairs where you can grab fresh air or get immediate first aid supplies if you have to drag a buddy there and treat him in a protected place before heading down. Their stuff resists blasts too. Pretty cool, Dude. Hope that helps.
