Work completed at end of second quarter.
The joint-venture Wood River refinerys new coker project was 98% complete at the end of the second quarter with start-up scheduled for the fourth quarter, Cenovus said. The 65,000 b/d coker will raise the Wood River refinerys coking capacity to 83,000 b/d.
This expansion will also increase the refinerys crude refining capacity by 50,000 b/d to 356,000 b/d. Once this expansion is in place, the Wood River refinery will have the capacity to refine about 240,000 b/d of heavy sour crudes from Canada. Work on this project began in September 2008.
