Plaquemines Power Outage Affects Refinery
Conoco Phillips Facility Shuts Down Some Unit
UPDATED: 1:19 pm CDT April 6, 2009
BELLE CHASSE, La. — A power outage in Plaquemines Parish shut down several units at the Conoco Phillips refinery Monday morning, company and parish officials said.
All of the east bank and part of the west bank of the parish were without power after Entergy lost a live transmission line, according to Parish President Billy Nungesser’s office.
Power was restored to the refinery just before noon; as of 1 p.m., a few hundred households were still without power.
The power interruption forced crews at the refinery to temporarily shut down some of its processing. There was no hazard to employees, a company spokeswoman said.
