Houston, 3 September, 2009 (Argus) A compressor at a coker unit tripped off line yesterday at ConocoPhillips’s 250,000 b/d Alliance refinery in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, a US Coast Guard report said.
The incident caused flaring of more than 500lb of sulfur dioxide at 11:46 a.m. EST, according to the report from the Coast Guard’s National Response Center. Coking converts heavy residual oil into lighter products.
The company was not immediately available for comment.

Here is Argus news item on COP Alliance & the information about the Argus Petcoke conference in Houston on Sept 17-18.
I plan on attending and believe this would be a good chance for others to meet petcoke contacts more in marketing area.

If you register before Sept 17 it is about $200 cheaper ($1295).

The general Argus site info on the Petcoke conference is at http://www.arguspetroleumcoke.com
