Does anyone know about the coke transfer line material?
we are advised that we use compressed kaowool with calcium insulation in the transfer line between coker furnace discharge and inlet line of the coke drums.
Is there any special reason? due to the high temperature from the furnace? or thermal expansion??
    Best regards,

Is it a high pressure coke drum?

No. I have seem it installed in surface of a high temperature loses, like heaters chamber or between the mat and heater wall; I mean, over 1400 Deg,F operating temperatures and over 10% energy lost to ambient.
Who knows? it may still save some energy lost in transfer line, although loses there are below 5%, so may no be cost-effective.
