Leak affects FCC at BP Texas City refinery
Reuters – Wednesday, August 27 01:38 pm
NEW YORK (Reuters) – A leak in the cooling tower of a gasoline-making fluid catalytic cracking unit caused emissions at BP’s 417,000 barrel per day Texas City, Texas refinery late Tuesday, according to a filing with state environmental regulators. The filing did not provide details on whether the FCC unit was taken offline due to the leak, and a company spokesman was not available for comment. Also late Tuesday, the company reported emissions due to high temperatures on the residual hydrotreater unit. It had previously said it would try to restart a residual hydrotreating unit between August 22 and September 12.
