You need encourage your Energy/Oil Company managers that if they need any Houston/Eldridge office space they grab it up quick!

Was recent article showing that BP was leasing additional 250 ft2 office space at Eldridge 3 in Energy Corridor (already lease 750 ft2 space in 2 bldgs = Westlake 3 & Westlake 4 plus they own 2 other buildings there).

Additionally Nexen Petroleum is leasing 300ft2 office space in the Corridor – both will tie up 3 new buildings (recently sold California company) and keep the Class A Energy Corridor rate at +92% ( despite XOM recently moving out Energy Corridor to Woodlands area). Now I’m not sure how much Class A is of total 18 million ft2 office space in Energy Corridor between Kirkwood and Barker Cypress but think it is substantial amount.

At first thought it was BP & others ramping up jobs & investments for Upstream E/P & ect – but other articles indicate they are just relocating folks from both Chicago & San Franciso to Houston as part of consolidation /reduction that began in 2008. Citgo recently (~last couple years ) relocated its Tulsa headquarters to Houston as well.

So it will be big bump in Houston/Katy area economy but drain for some other cities as Energy Companies move to Gulf area where better incentives/support.

<PS – here are couple good links: to BP shift article Aug 19 @ http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/print-edition/2011/08/19/bp-recommits-to-energy-corridor.html and good PDF/Factsheet on Energy Corridor @ http://www.energycorridor.org/sites/ecd/media/mobility/ECDMobilityBroch-full-mech_web.pdf
