Casey Christie / The Californian The sun sets behind the Big West refinery on Rosedale Highway.
Only eight “serious bidders” remain in the running to buy Big West refinery, an executive at the Rosedale Highway plant said Wednesday.
Plant manager Gene Cotten said the sale should be completed “probably within two months for sure.”
The list of potential buyers has been shortened from 130 groups or individuals that had expressed interest when the refinery was initially put up for sale early this year.
Cotten declined to elaborate on the latest list other than to say it does not include a major oil company “by standard definition” — meaning not a company like Chevron or Shell.
“I feel like we’ve got a good piece of equipment here and hopefully we can find a buyer,” Cotten said.
